We have the same problem. So we now have a front shield with just the small holes and not the one that allows for a plug. Mysteel also sell a small shield you can slide in to avoid the pinching

Our experience is as follows. My sub learning to wear a my-steel belt. This had the wide opening in the back. Currently she wears it up to 24 hrs - but does not do “nr 2” in her belt. The wide opening does tend to chafe her skin so we are using massage oil to avoid that. It’s only been 3 months sinc...
