What makes a good 24/7 belt?

Post by Anoetic »

Hi everyone I am pretty new hear but I have been into belting for several years. We all know the 3 main quality belt manufactures are neosteel, fancysteel, and mysteel with some people also liking access denied. This is more asking what everyone feels is important for details in a 24/7 belt.
A good lock system? Comfort? Rolled edges or padding? Moveability? Coverage?
I'm asking because I am getting a custom belt made and don't want to forget anything

Hi Anoetic =^.^=

Personally I recommend My-Steel. They are adjustable, you can choose several colors, it can be ergonomic to your body, the double shield is tight but not too tight, ...

Consider also the price of the belt, and the possibility to adjust them.

Hi Wendy. I had considered my steel but I am not a big fan of their look. I am planning on fancy steel as they are custom making a belt for me (down to the exact look I want) as my lock requirements are not able to be done on ANY of the main brands available (I need a smart lock with remote/Bluetooth locking) as my keyholder can be gone overseas for several months so having one that can be unlocked by him over that distance forgoes the normal locks and all smart locks are full padlock size

I seriously wonder if the bluetooth lock is a good idea. Won't it be damaged by the showers?

The question of bluetooth padlocks fascinates me.
Is it reliable? (I mean: what if it doesn't want to open electronically?)
How can your keyholder be sure you will lock it properly afterwards?
How big is it?

This is the lock I am looking at as he can give and revoke access for me when I need it and it tracked whether it is open or closed as well as being fine with water ect.
In terms of whether or not he knows I've locked it properly between the app and things such as video chatting there isn't much risk there, especially as I am too honest for my own good.

Thank you!
It looks very interesting. And indeed, it can't fit on a My-Steel belt.

That's a fairly big lock, but according to the link you provided it's weatherproof and suitable for outdoor use. Which means, it should survive showers just fine.

My belt is locked with an ABUS 83/45 padlock which is approximately the same size, though instead of bluetooth being part of the lock we replaced the SFIC lock core with a digital medeco SFIC core. The ABUS of that size and larger can have the cores replaced meaning you can rekey them, and change the type of keys that are used - straight like normal padlock keys, round security keys, or digital stuff if you're so inclined as we were.

But, it's a big lock and probably won't fit any of the off-the-shelf belts one might buy. My belt was custom and designed specifically to be locked with the ABUS 83/45 I mentioned.

I have read in a few places that you had yours made custom around the lock which is exactly what I intend to do as well. I would be interested in seeing yours but I have been given the impression by another belted girl that is considered a no-no and considered creeper behavior to ask. So instead I will ask if there are features one must get that are NOT usually thought of when getting a belt custom with a large lock. Where is the weight of the lock distributed, and therefore where is additional belt material needed to support it? I have previously worn belts (although none of the "higher end" belts) so I am already familiar with things such as silicone coming loose, cleaning, pinch points (still have scars from a cruddy belt on my inner thigh creases), bolts that come loose, easily pickable locks, difficulty with high activity and bending, and so on.
