D-Rings

Post by Curious_101 »

I would like to add D-Rings (perhaps there is another name for them) to my belt to attach cuffs or whatever.

After searching a while I found
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0 ... AZDOWP300U

Does that look right, or does anyone have a better source/suggestion?

THANKS!

You could get some large Key Rings from the hardware store.
Slip them on over your belt, one on each side or at the rear,
and put the belt back on.
You can attach your cuffs to the rings.

D-rings shown in the link: they are the same kind I have on my belts. If you find the right length between holes, it will be easy to screw on a belt.
Large keyrings are not a good idea: the belt can make pressure on the rings and mark (or damage) the skin. Seems too uncomfortable.

Finding D rins like those shown is relativley easy. Depending on the make of belt you own and also style its a question of how easy or difficult it is to drill through to fix the screws Rivets.
Depending on where you live [country] most hardware stores or boat builder suppliers /Chandlers will have the D rings. Look specifically for Stainless steel if you dont want rust marks on your skin or clothes.Same with fixings scews rivets
Thin Chinese belts may already have multiple drilled holes that you can attach the D ring anchors to. iN NO PARTICULAR ORDER My steel/ Tollyboy/ Carrera/ Neosteel are all made with high grade stainless which is NOT easy to drill. Good quality HSS steel twist drills will cut a hole if used with care. NOT rushed and over heated. DRILLS specific to cutting through stainless have a different TIP shape IE the angle at the point of the drill is different. Maycost a couple of POUNDS/Dollars more to buy but will save a lot of grief and damage

As an example of choice of drill bits and they will advise on correct bit to order.
IF YOU GO AHEAD with this project maybe take some before and after pictures and post them on this site.
