Sometimes I think researchers has too much time and money.

Probably better that people are not overweight, than that they should stop using tight belts. If their theory were correct, they should throat cancer has been a major problem for women in corset during the 1900s.
Every woman should wear chastity belt!
90% of women have never heard of it,
90% of all women who hear about it will find the idea good,
90% of all women who have tried it are enthusiastic.
There remains a lot of work

Hal Higginbottom told me he had sold a few F/B-100s to models, each for the young lady's own use primarily to remind herself to keep her diet, secondarily to use as a foil against sexual harassment. (Perhaps this belongs in the thread, Is there Real Use?.)

The sames applies to serious corsetting and tightlacing - as one restricts and compresses the body to conform to a shape not native to that body, the squishy bits inside get compressed and/or move elsewhere.

The human body is an amazing machine/system though, it's very adaptable to a changing environment especially if that change is done gradually over a long period of time. Quite a few people I've run into over the years have unrealistic expectations about body modifications of this kind - they think with a male body and a flabby 36" waist they can cinch down to a 26" hourglass waist and they're body can handle it. Most women can't do that as easily as imagined.

Chastity belts have different issues in this because their designs make for point loads (waist belt, crotch belt) rather than a distributed, full body load over what is covered. Those point loads create higher stress points on the body and can do more damage if they're increased too fast trying to cinch tighter and tighter.

From a purely male belt wearing point of view.
1] my Tollyboy has a Drop waist at the front
2] As it is made of thicker steel than some other belts it holds it shape
3] As both the waist bands I own I have bent to suit my body shape they have in turn both ended up with a " bow" front section at the point the crotch belt anchors.
4] The BOW front means that I have at least a 1" gap between Stomach and intersection between crotch band and waist band. So no pressure here.

This works very well in practice and I personally avoid squishing to many parts of my personal anatomy.
I did consider a straight waist band but have an aversion to cuttiing my self in half when stooping or bending. But that said my choice EVERYONE to there own.
Thank you to Lizza for her timely reminder to us all to be careful with our health, Good health cannot be taken for granted. :)

Fortunately there are medications to fix acid reflux. It's not something to let go untreated :S
