That device I posted above is the modern day version of a "choke pear" or a "pear of anguish" which was a medieval form of punishment, and I posted it more for humor and smiles than as an actual suggestion. But, since we're on the subject they are an interesting chastity device.

Used anally (as the posted device is specifically designed for) is not really different than an average sized butt plug with the added feature that a padlock can be attached to it to keep it in. Because the anus is comprised of paper-thin muscles, I wouldn't even consider attaching it to a wall-chain, leash, or something like that for the reasons you stated.
They do make good vaginal pears however. When I bought a different version a year ago, a friend of mine offered one of her subs as a guinea pig, and she wore the pear three non-sequential days, at different levels of open. The sub reported back that the feeling was awesome and a delicious distraction while at work. The device I bought can be locked at various levels of open, rather than fully closed and fully open which is why I bought that one.
